PURPOSE OF THE SCREEN

A fitness to work (FTW) screen is requested in order to establish the employee’s ability to resume work at present. This is not a Functional Capacity Evaluation.

 

PURPOSE OF THE REPORT

The findings of the FTW screen is then compiled into a report in order to provide the employer, case manager and/or claims assessor with information regarding the employee’s current work capacity in order to manage the case, assess the claim and make appropriate recommendations.

EXECUTION OF THE FTW

The assessment can be conducted virtually, if appropriate but otherwise carried out at the practice. A FTW normally takes 1-2 hours and comprises of a specified assessments e.g. cognition, psycho-social and/or physical. Standardised tools are used when relevant. Clients are requested to bring a list of medications, any medical documents, assistive devices (glasses, wheelchair, hearing aids, crutches etc.) and to wear comfortable clothing.
