DISABILITY POLICY

Developing a disability policy aims to have a standard procedure for equitably managing unwell, frequently absent or incapacitated employees. Many business have sick leave policies in place but few have a step-by-step guide with regards to employees who become unwell "on the job". Our experience has taught us that each employee and every medical condition is different. But the law dictates clear processes in terms of the management of employees who struggle work due to illness, injury and/or disability.

 

The trick is to treat each 'case' equitably, not equally. While the procedure might be the same, the steps will differ according the specific case since a person's response to a medical condition will never follow the same path - there are too many variable. We work closely with labour lawyers to establish a policy to handle unwell employees fairly and justly
